Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Civil Engineering

Postgraduate (Doctoral) University Study of Civil Engineering is carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split.

During Postgraduate University Study of Civil Engineering 180 ECTS credits are acquired. The study is organized and carried out as full time study and lasts for three years (six semesters) during which a student collects180 ECTS credits.

In rare cases, the study can be organized as part-time study lasting for six years. Besides research, courses are delivered during the first three semesters. The other three semesters are foreseen for scientific research which results in writing a Ph.D. thesis (a doctoral dissertation).

Upon the completion of Postgraduate University Study of Civil Engineering a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in Technical Sciences is awarded. Doctors of Technical Sciences in the field of Civil Engineering receive high-quality education which is based on scientific research, and they are qualified to:

  • discover new knowledge
  • spread knowledge and pass it on to younger students
  • apply their knowledge in practice and help the people of Croatia and world citizens to discover, spread and develop scientific thought in order to recognize and solve problems

The decision on the announcement of a competition for entry to Postgraduate University Study of Civil Engineering is made by the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split, depending on need and interest, but not less than once in two years as a rule.
