Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering is carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split and lasts for two academic years (four semesters).
Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering is carried out through four programmes:
- General Programme
- Modelling of Structures Programme
- Structures Programme
- Hydrotechnical Engineering Programme
Upon the completion of Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering a Master's degree (magistar/magistra) in Civil Engineering is awarded.
Holder of a Master's degree in Civil Engineering is fully qualified for the performance of all civil engineering tasks in accordance with relevant legislation (competences which, according to the former laws, correspond to the profession of a graduate civil engineer or a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering). Among other things:
- he/she acquires basic competences in recognizing, understanding and analyzing general phenomena and civil engineering problems as well as in finding acceptable solutions, especially within the branch of civil engineering in which he/she has specialized
- he/she is qualified for planning, supervising and carrying out professional, developmental and scientific projects, for taking a leading role in enterprises and research institutions, and for finding solutions to technical and human problems in a work environment.
- he/she is capable to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to planning, designing, constructing, monitoring and maintaining structures within the area he/she has centered on from the viewpoint of bearnig capacity, stability, safety, serviceability, cost-benefit and environmental protection.
- he/she is capable to use the acquired knowledge, obtain new knowledge and experience, make scientific and professional conclusions, and develop in terms of scientific and applied scientific research.
- he/she acquires basic competences for continuing his/her education within postgraduate scientific and specialist studies and lifelong learning programmes.
During Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering students acquire 120 ECTS credits.
Upon the completion of Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering, candidates meet the entry requirements to Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Civil Engineering at an institution of higher education which delivers postgraduate studies, among which is the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split.
ORGANISATION OF STUDY
Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering is carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split.
The Curriculum is comprised of compulsory and elective courses and is adjusted to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) according to which 60 ECTS credits are acquired during one academic year.
