Graduate University Study of Architecture

Graduate University Study of Architecture is carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split and lasts for wo years (four semesters).

Upon the completion of Undergraduate University Study of Architecture a Master's degree (magistar/magistra) in Architecture and Urban Planning is awarded.

Holders of a Master's degree in Architecture are qualified for the performance of all tasks in the field of architecture in accordance with the Building Act, the Physical Planning Act, and the Act on the Croatian Chamber of Architects and Civil Engineers (competences which, according to the former laws, correspond to the profession of a graduate architect or a Bachelor of Science in Architecture). Among other things:

  • realization of architectural designs and tasks related to the function of a chief architect (in accordance with the Building Act)
  • drafting of the documentation on physical planning
  • drafting of project documentation in the field of Protection and Restoration of Architectural Heritage
  • consultancy and engineering services in civil engineering (project management, programming, project and programme studies, investment studies, professional monitoring of construction, construction site management and construction management)
  • work in the administrative and professional services of local goverenment and state administration
  • teaching at a secondary school level and at higher levels of education
  • other work.

During Graduate University Study of Architecture students acquire 120 ECTS credits.

Upon the completion of Graduate University Study of Architecture, candidates meet the entry requirements to Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Architecture at institutions of higher education which deliver postgraduate study of Architecture.

 

ORGANISATION OF STUDY

Graduate University Study of Architecture is carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Split, with participation of lecturers from other faculties and other insitutions of higher learning of the University of Split, from other universities in the Republic of Croatia, as well as of foreign visiting university lecturers.

The Curriculum is comprised of compulsory and elective courses and is adjusted to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) according to which 60 ECTS credits are acquired during one academic year.
