Mission
One of the main tasks of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture is active participation in the scientific research of the Croatian Academic Community. The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture is the promoter of scientific research in techical sciences in the disciplines which are, in the broadest sense, related to Civil Engineering, and has set itself the aim of becoming a recognizable institution on an international level.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture makes great efforts to establish cooperation projects, and besides its cooperation with the region's biggest companies it cooperates with local state bodies, which contributes to the promotion of its role in society. The practical application of the scientific excellence of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture is achieved through undergradute and graduate studies instruction, whereas postgraduate doctoral study of Civil Engineering encourages scientific research.
Vision
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture directs its development towards achieving recognition for its high-quality research work and for its contribution to technological development of society. A few research teams seek to become the leading forces in the fields of their research. The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture will be the leading promoter of collaborative research which involves economy, academic community, state bodies and institutions. Researchers, lecturers employed at the faculty, and their students will excel in their chosen scientific fields.

Scientific activity development strategy at the Faculty
Main goals and objectives:
To achieve and maintain the highest standards of scientific research throughout the Republic of Croatia and farther, as well as to apply its research results to technological development of society.
Subgoals:
To maximize the output and research results, and to achieve 50% of the activities in research.
Goal achievement activities:
- Motivating scientists to publish articles in accordance with the local level requirements (supervision, junior research assistant awards, etc.)
- Participation in FP7 projects
- Encourage research and scientific publication through high standards of excellence /strict requirements for doctoral studies
To increase the number of junior research assistants and doctoral students.
Goal achievement activities:
- Urge employers to offer financial support to their employees as researchers – docoral students
- Providing extra funds for junior research assistants, and paying them for their involvement in the teaching process
To modernize laboratories.
Goal achievement activities:
- Purchasing scientific equipment using funds intended for professional work
- Employing a highly skilled laboratory personnel who will continue their education through the doctoral level
- Promoting cooperation with big companies and institutes through joint laboratory research
To encourage scientific research in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning.

- Facilitating research cooperation between civil engineers and lecturers in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning and establishing interdisciplinary research areas
